Texas’ entire Democratic congressional delegation has asked the White House to pause the state’s ongoing removal of people from the Medicaid rolls, saying a botched process has dropped children, seniors and others who should still have access to the federal program. The 13 lawmakers — including San Antonio U.S. Reps. Joaquin Castro, Greg Casar and Henry Cuellar — have sent two letters to the Biden administration, one on Aug. 22 and another on Sept. 19, requesting that it pause Texas’ process for 30 days. They also requested an audit of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) system that determines which people to drop from the rolls.
